The answer is Yes. We have seen this a lot lately as to where someone has lost their car keys. They are no where to be found and now the person is in a state of panic. Obviously, the first questions is, Now what do I do? Should I call the dealership where I purchased my car from or should I call a Locksmith?
Locksmiths can perform the same tasks as a technician at a Dealership, when it revolves around making keys for your vehicle, duplicating keys for doors, unlocking glove boxes, etc. The only difference is going to be the price. Then you are going to need the VIN number. This is located in several areas on your vehicle. The most common place is on the silver plate located on the dashboard. The final thing is that you must provide your Title or Registration to prove ownership of your vehicle.
Once that information is provided, the Locksmith will be able to create a new key based upon the code that is given to them. Most Locksmiths are able to perform that task on the spot, wherever you are located. However, they may ask you all of the information before they get there so they can be prepared upon arrival to your location.
